I would have to suspect he lives on KU reads. $2.99 per 90 page book generally doesn't get a lot of kindle purchases unless its porn, and all Zon-porn is ridiculously expensive.

It's actually a pretty good model, particular for someone writing serialized fiction, it can generate a fairly reliable income, much more so than bigger books which drop, get a pile of money and then dry up. You may generate the exact same amount of money, but the second is much more of a feast or famine thing. Actually you probably get more money, KU earns me more than straight e-book sales and pretty sure this true for most indie authors writing fiction.

My problem with Aer-ki Jyr is that he goes a bit nuts with Pro-veganism and gets Way Way WAYyyyyyy too in depth with everything and drags on too much with it, like, down to the most mediocre of Minutae, But not the minutae involved with character development. It's also just a tad bit Sterilized, for younger audiences possibly.

Pro-veganista?

Obviously an alien then.

I don't know about you, but I am appalled by cruel and heartless, unsportsmanlike slaughter of veggiekind by the vegans.

Did you know vegetarians and vegans typically eat their prey alive? Ever notice how onions and potatoes and lots of other veggies keep growing once you pick them, and even after you brutally cut them up in pieces? If they are growing, they are still alive, and the evil veggie-vegans eat them that way!

Further, when you hunt animals, they can at least run away and attempt to flee. When was the last time you saw a potato or cornstalk try to run away? They can't! The poor things just stand there, stuck in the ground, waiting in terror at the approaching farmer (murderer) who wants to pluck them from their home and feed them alive to some crazed vegetarian.

I'm sorry, but if you are an intelligent being, and insist on 'eating' the only sportsmanlike thing to do is to eat other intelligent beings who are capable of escaping you, outwitting you or even eating you back.

In fact, if you go out for dinner and their isn't at least a 50/50 chance that you'll be the dinner rather than the diner, then you are cheating and being unsportsmanlike!

Oooh!

Was just thinking about this some more.

You know what the perfect meal would be?

Jello!

If you were to eat a gelatinous cube (e.g. our friend-fellow-forumer GelCube) then both would be dinner and diner!

You eat the gelatinous cube and then it eats you from the inside out!

Win Win!

Hmm, so if you are a golem or other inorganic creature, you'd be safe.

How would we tell if two Gels were eating each other or having sex? Pretty sure it would look about the same.

I think you'll find that you're forgetting about a whole litany of super stomach creatures, like Eborsisks, The Giant Dune worms of Arakkis, The Molbol, And various swamp-based creatures.

Also you might be overrating our slimey friend here's power and ability.

Actually, it pretty much is the same thing. Pseudopods aside, swapping genetic code at the molecular level takes a little digestion. That's why Gels have to be around the same size/level. Otherwise, one just eats the other. Hard on the love life, but hey, at least you're never hungry!

As for golems, while I can't digest their inorganic bodies, I can dissolve them. And flesh golems? Yummy.

GelCube, if you got eaten by a Dune Sandworm or any of these others, could you eat your way out?

Hmm, I don't know. I've never been eaten by anything like that. I'd like to think I could, but how would I know unless I tried? Those sandworms...are they like the ones on Saturn?

Although I did have a cousin that got ate by a sharlick, sharlok...something like that. Anyway, it was this toothy hole in the ground on some desert planet or other. After he ate the insides of the thing out, some crazy cult or something kept throwing creatures in the hole, so he just hung around and ate them as they fell in. Heard he got killed when they dropped in some weird guy in armor.

Oh, sorry to hear about your cousin.

Although it sounds like it was a nice gig while it lasted.

Pretty nice to have waiters delivering your dinner to you on a regular basis.

I encountered a cult like this once, I believe they called themselves Grubhubbers or something like that.

I’m so glad I joined this forum. I never would’ve learned all these details about what really happened on Middle Earth or any of these other worlds if I hadn’t found this book series.

The truth, it sets you free! Doesn't it?

It's the evil Matri-Patri-archy that is out to suppress the truth and confuse us with their author-trolls who try to shape real histories to their own twisted agendas. OK, it's really the damn elves, we all know it's the freaking elves!

PS. Just realized the pejorative nature of that comment. Some of my best friends are trolls. Real trolls, of course, not author-trolls, it really is criminal how the trollkin have been "demonized" if you know what I mean and their good racial name ran through the muck!

You know what they say, not all Trolls are Bridge/cave residing traveller/random passerby eating monsters, but a major percentage of the same previous mentioned are Trolls. To be fair though Trolls have gotten a bad rap, being blamed for a lot things that were caused by Ogres. Apparently people have difficulties telling the difference, and the fact that Trolls don't very much like Humans or other similar Humanoids doesn't help the situation. jötunn, troll, þurs, and risi are vaguely related, but also are distinctly different classes of beings, it doesn't help that in Nordic groups, the Scandenavians, Swedish, Norwegian and Viking Tales tend to have much confusion and overlap in the use of Old Norse terms amongst eachother in regards to meaning. The texts on that Subject are Dense, and describe a plethora or Races and beings, and is not an easy subject to become learned in.

And/or, but again, the elves have confounded the issue with their evil propaganda.

And also, remember a lot of it is cultural confusion. Many of these races have a "you invade my lands, you become fair game for my pot" policy, which you have to admit is pretty reasonable, particularly in high mountain and tundra like regions where game can be scarce.

As you may know, neither humans nor elves are very culturally insensitive, it is their culture or they kill you. They refuse to respect other people's cultures and traditions.

This causes a lot of problems.

True but that kind of Policy is moot when they don't put up signs telling you where their lands start, For example that 'Family friendly' movie about that Ogre.

I think you've got a bit of an... unhealthy fixation on Elves tizzy, Yes they may indeed be Conniving bastards but assuming that they are responsible for everything is giving them a bit too much credit isn't it?

Just don't try and tell me that Ogres are all really misunderstood good guys, as they are 100% Sapientivores, and would eat any intelligent races they could get their hands on(They're like humans in that respect, always wanting to 'try' new things), and that includes you tizzy.

They are almost as bad as Grendel-kin.

Ack!

I responded to your last post, but the response is now missing! Pretty sure the elves intercept the posting process!

To recap what I said that was taken down by the Evil Elves...

It is not the fault of the ogres and trollkin if they post signs that humans and elves don't recognize as signs marking there territories.

Literacy rates are, unfortunately, a bit low with these folks, so they use alternative border marking systems that may not be obvious by arrogant elves and humans who don't bother to look for the signs/warnings.

For example wargs and wolves all mark their territories with scent, how many humans or elves bother to smell for territorial boundaries?

As for too much credit? Well, the elves get a lot of help from their fawning acolyte races, humans and heartheans come to mind in particular.

Only ogres eat other intelligent races? What about pigs? or goats? (as food), dolphins and whales? all are exceptionally intelligent creatures and humans eat them. Some humans also eat dogs....Again, I go back to my fundamental point:

The only ethical form of eating is photosynthesis (oh and manasynthesis or whatever it is we demons do), all other forms of eating are murder! Murder most foul!

Grendel was a great guy! Until this Beowulf guy, who I note, looked suspiciously like Talarius' new buddy in Nysegard (but that's another spin-off story) sided with the dastardly Hrothgar, who built a mead hall on Grendel's land (seeing a pattern of behavior here??) and then refused to invite Grendel and his mom for a drink!

I agree with Dirk. I was under the impression that Hrothgar had Grendel killed because he didn’t want word getting out that Grendel was his son.
