OK: Have not yet read, but this looks to be right up GelCube's alley:

Hmm. That looks interesting. Though I wish it was on KU, or that it wasn't quite as expensive.

Yes, but he's a pretty new author, first book was in October 2016. Don't think he has figured out the advantages of KU yet, nor price optimization.

Price a bit less, sell a lot more, make a lot more. And KU, as I keep saying is a great deal for authors...unless you have some magical way of getting your book noticed on the apple bookstore, BN or playstore.

I wasn't on KU at first (but it wasn't as good a deal then either) because I wanted to be at all bookstores. Quickly found out that they don't count for a plate of mash potatoes against the mountain of Amazon.

Never sold anything on Apple, sold maybe 2 or 3 on BN, sold 4 on Smashwords, sold 5 or 6 on Playstore in the first 2-3 months, compared with a couple hundred on Amazon.

Currently I make about 2x as much from KU as from individual sales, and individual sales are 2 orders of magnitude beyond what I could do elsewhere.

Yes, you kind of have to be REALLY invested in the Kindle ecosystem, and/or be involved in the behind-the-scenes author stuff (like Tizzy Talk) to kind of understand the metrics involved. And a new writer is probably interested in getting the book out there.

Think I'll wait a bit and see if the author will have a sale or something.

No, she's just carrying it. Apparently, oozes in that world don't "ooze". Ah, damn my reading addiction. I went ahead and bought it. It was entertaining, and an interesting take on things, but many of the plot points seemed a little forced to me.

Still, it was fun to read.

As I understand it, the Ooze is her pet at first, and then maybe her lover?

That's an odd relationship progression, but then humans dating oozes is not that common.

Lover? No, not in this book, anyway. You'd think it was uncommon...until you do a Gargle Search for something like "tentacle love". Apparently it's not that uncommon in certain areas of some planes.

The ooze was described as warm, dry jelly. It's name is "Jelly". Frankly, he seems far too human to me.

I read it. It started out pretty interestingly, since the main character couldn't communicate, but then the jelly suddenly learns how to speak! Became kind of a standard coming of age story after that, with just an unusual MC. Book 2 looks to be a standard going to mage school type thing. Will there be romance in the future? God I hope not, as it will be completely derivative at that point.

I get tentacle porn, it's pretty much the basis of love with Melissance and her hubby, but do Oozes have tentacles? Pseudopods, yes, of course.

A warm dry jelly? That seems rather odd.

Are pseudopods that amenable for the necessary hand gestures to cast spells?

Also, does it speak telepathically? Or exude vocal cords and pump air through them?

They call them tentacles, but they're pseudopods. And apparently, gestures in this world are only for a mental framework. If you really concentrate, you don't need them.

The speaking was a blessing from a goddess...so...MAGIC! Deus Ex Machina!

Frankly the MC grew too quickly, I thought. Especially the speaking.

Bummer, hate that when it happens, but perhaps it's just part of the superior nature of slimes, oozes and gels, being a master race and all has its advantages, or so I would assume.

In terms of different character development, I think the Divine Dungeon does relatively well, yes, in book Cal, the dungeon, does go from unable to speak to fairly sophisticated in not a couple hundred pages, but lots of time is passing around him as it does. So their are lots of very explicit periods of weeks or months where he is very purposefully working on learning things and building himself out, learning how to make monsters etc.

I've got book 2, which just dropped into the Abyss, but haven't got to read it yet. Busy running back and forth between Book 4 and CoA:ITA, it's hard to be the most important character in two books simultaneously.

Just finished re-reading Legacy of the Twice Dead God. MC gets seemingly overpowered in the first book, but the series seems to escalate well. Not sure exactly where it's going in Book 4.

Will the god be out on this third strike? Permanently dead?

Do gods even play baseball?

Hmmm.

I very much enjoyed that series, and was bummed when the author went MIA.

Maybe the author kind of painted himself in the corner with the ending of the third book resolving most of the outstanding tension.

Actually, he posted on his blog in January that he's still writing the next book "Connections". There were a lot of loose plot threads at the end of book 3. Hopefully the next book will tie some of them off. Really not sure where you can go after killing an elder god. Maybe the mall?

What is it about super-powered teenagers that make them remain virgins?
