I had bought the novel for Kindle in 2022, but didn't get around to reading those novels until now. Overall, the book was very enjoyable to me, but since I tend to skip protracted space combat scenes, perhaps a bit shorter than usual. Page 253 tenants -> tenets Page 333 tactile -> tactical Page 402 Doohan Scotty -> oops.... Added to my list for the various books. Got a really long list when spread across all books.
Ack! I just realized, did I do the X-Ray for this one?????? Need to check.
Anyway, even with the space battles this is definitely a shorter book.
My previous editor went MIA between book 3 and this and when looking for a new one, I talked to a traditional editor editor, i.e. full scope like you would have at a publishing company and who'd done of editing that way. So very traditional.
She was horrified by the length of this book, and the others. She really truly believed in the standard definitions of novel/novella etc. Even though she was an SF/Fantasy editor. I did not get into what she thought of GoT or WoT etc. And understandably for her style, she didn't want to come into the middle of an existing work/universe. So that was not a good fit.
